C-O-R-D Event Operations Portal

This is the secured C-O-R-D (Common Operational Resource Dashboard) Event Operations portal for participating organizations. Select your organization, then sign in with your account to access authorized event tools, dispatcher workflows, and asset information.

If you do not yet have access, contact the event organization you work with for account instructions.

C-O-R-D — Development Update

C-O-R-D is a K5NWZ project and is very much alive and actively being developed.

Right now, a tremendous amount of work is going into building the foundation of the system. The goal is not simply to create another tracking map or a single-purpose race dashboard. I am working toward a robust, flexible event-operations platform that remains simple for operators to use while being powerful enough to support many different types and sizes of events.

The system is being designed for races and marathons, but also for public-service events, fairs, festivals, parades, emergency-support operations, amateur-radio-supported events, and other situations involving both fixed locations and mobile teams.

Current development includes integration and testing of multiple communications and location technologies, including:

  • APRS position and asset reporting
  • Meshtastic GPS tracking and mesh networking
  • MeshCore GPS tracking and mesh networking
  • EchoLink integration
  • AllStar integration
  • Potential DMR integration
  • Multiple simultaneous users and operators
  • Multiple events with separate configurations
  • Fixed stations, checkpoints, aid stations, command posts, and mobile units
  • Flexible event-specific layouts, assets, teams, and operational information

One of the major design goals is to avoid locking the system into a single radio network, communications method, event type, or organization. Different events may have very different resources available, so the platform needs to be configurable around the event rather than forcing the event to work around the software.

A great deal of the work happening right now is behind the scenes. I am working through the communications architecture, location-reporting methods, data handling, configuration system, operator interface, and how all of these different technologies will work together reliably.

That means there may be periods where the public-facing dashboard does not appear to change very much. That does not mean development has stalled. Quite the opposite—the foundation is being built carefully now so that we do not end up constantly rebuilding the system later.

The objective is a platform that is:

Simple to operate. Powerful underneath. Highly configurable. Reliable in the field.

Once the core architecture is solid, the project will move into more visible development, field testing, and real-world operational testing. From there, the system can continue growing based on what actually works during events and feedback from the people using it.

There is a lot happening behind the scenes, and I am very excited about where this is going.

More updates will be posted as the major pieces begin coming together.
