Visit more than one club before choosing your club
A good amateur-radio club is one of the best places to find mentoring, get practical direction in the hobby, learn new skills and meet people who share your interests. Club meetings, presentations, activities, field events and informal conversations give newcomers access to experienced operators who are usually glad to answer questions and help them get started.
Do not choose a club only because it meets closest to your home. Every club has a different personality. Some are highly technical, some are more social, some are especially supportive of newcomers, some are extremely active, and others are smaller and more relaxed. I live in Loveland, Colorado, but belong to a club in Greeley because it is a good fit for me. Visit several clubs, meet the people and experience their activities before deciding where you feel at home. You will not know which club fits you until you visit, and these organizations will be glad to welcome you and answer your questions.
What those numbers mean
A repeater receives your transmission on one frequency and sends it back out on another from a high location. The tables below give you the exact values to enter, so you do not have to calculate an offset. Listen first, then identify with your call sign.
The frequency your radio listens on.
The frequency your radio sends on.
Usually CTCSS (also called PL or T-Tone) plus a number such as 100.0 Hz.
Local clubs and the systems they operate
Each club is grouped with its repeaters, links and beginner-friendly information. The separate quick-reference list remains near the bottom for anyone who only wants frequencies.

Program compatible radios without doing it all from the keypad
CHIRP is free, open-source software that lets you organize channels, repeater frequencies, transmit frequencies, tone settings and names on a computer, then transfer that channel list to many supported radios. It is especially popular with inexpensive handhelds such as many Baofeng models, but it supports hundreds of radios from numerous manufacturers.
Start by confirming that your exact radio model is supported and that you have the correct programming cable. Read the radio into CHIRP first, save that original image as a backup, make your changes, and only then write the updated channel list back to the radio.
Download CHIRP from the official site ↗Before connecting: Check the official supported-radio list. Similar-looking models can use different drivers, cables or procedures.
Keep the information current
Club websites are the first place to check. For a broader database, use the Colorado Council of Amateur Radio Clubs frequency coordinator or RepeaterBook. The owner club current status notice should take priority.

Know about a Northern Colorado club or repeater that should be included? Send the club name, website, communities served, meeting or social links, and any repeater details you know. For a repeater, please include the site name, receive frequency, transmit frequency, tone type, tone or code, operating mode, owner or sponsoring club, and a public source where the information can be verified.
You do not have to know every detail. Send what you have, and I can research the rest before adding it.
